As gardeners prepare vegetable plots for planting in the aptly named “Urban Oasis” in Ngau Tau Kok, Kowloon, the matrix of traffic-laden flyovers overhead seems a million miles away. There are 350 plots on the site run by the Christian Family Service Centre. The agency hopes the elderly, specialneeds groups plus ordinary city dwellers in need of a place to relax and some greenery will seize the chance to become city farmers when the oasis opens in March.
