Project Objectives :
- To address emotional needs of SEN carers and encourage help seeking behaviors
- To help SEN carers cope with emotional disturbances effectively through early identification and intervention
- To build SEN carers’ capacities in handling children’s emotional and behavior problems effectively
- To consolidate carers’ wisdom and experience through sharing so as to build mutual support among peers
- To co-create a carer friendly community with enhancement of carers and families’ psychological wellness
Project Contents:
- Carer Mental Health Counseling Service
- Individual counseling
- Group counseling (Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
- Mental Health Assessment and recommendations
- Referral to professional services of Psychiatrists and Clinical Psychologist
- Mental Health Preventive and Educational Activities
- Talks about common mental health problems
- Parent-child Workshops for enhancing parent-child relationship
- Capability building workshops for SEN carers
- Training workshops on Mental Health Knowledge and Parenting Skills which held by different professionals, e.g. clinical psychologist.
- Carer peer support Scheme
- Inviting carers become our volunteers
- Training Courses on Mental Health Knowledge and Helping Skills, e.g. Communication skills, Play therapy etc
- Assisting in promoting family mental health in schools and the community
- Community Programs for promoting mental health
- Mental health exhibitions and booths
- Promoting family mental healththrough online platforms
