The “Shun Ting Terraced Home” in Cheung Sha Wan had been completed successfully, and residents had moved in gradually. With financial support from the Social Welfare Department, the Pilot Project on Integrated Community Rehabilitation Centre in Kowloon East commenced its services in the second quarter of 2023, with the aim of providing a hybrid of centre- and home-based care services for people with severe disabilities in the region.

Situated within Hoi Tat Estate in Sham Shui Po, Hoi Nga House (a hostel for moderately mentally handicapped persons) and Hoi Chung House (a supported hostel) commenced their service delivery as licensed residential care homes for persons with disabilities (RCHDs) in late March, offering 83 residential places in total. Their goal is to build homes filled with happiness, where the residents can live full and rewarding lives.

Our Social Service Team in Buildings Department has been commissioned by the Buildings Department to assist property owners and residents affected by enforcement actions in complying with the removal and repair orders. The service coverage will be extended to Hong Kong Island and will last for three years, starting from January 2023.

The Agency was once again awarded contracts to operate the “GREEN@YU MAN SQUARE” and “GREEN@WALLED CITY” recycling stores by the Environmental Protection Department. Together with the new additions of “GREEN@HUNG HOM” and “GREEN@TO KWA WAN”, this expanded our recycling operations to cover the entirety of Kowloon City District, allowing us to offer more comprehensive recycling support, promotional campaigns and services.

On 16th December, the “Wellness-Zone – Integrated Community Centre for Mental Wellness” and “Store of Happiness – The Mobile Van For Publicity Service On Mental Wellness” held their opening ceremony, along with the service promotion day for the Hope Delivery Service, at their new centre in Mount Verdant, Tseung Kwan O. The event marked the official openings of the “Wellness-Zone” and “Store of Happiness” with their joint commitment to building a kind, dynamic and mentally healthy community brimming with hope.

The Tsui Fung Co-production Centre, as part of the “Hoi Tat Estate Project I” in Sham Shui Po District, commenced its service in August, providing 125 places for vocational rehabilitation services. As Hong Kong’s first chocolate-making workshop that offers people with disabilities training to become chocolatiers, the Centre obtained a Food Factory Licence issued by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. Through a diverse range of rehabilitation training, it aims to promote personal development and self-worth among people with disabilities, while enhancing their occupational training and employment opportunities.
